Cannabis export from Canada is regulated under the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations, with Health Canada issuing permits on a per-shipment basis for authorized purposes. Export is limited to medical and scientific purposes — each shipment requires its own permit, and the receiving country must have equivalent authorization in place for the import.
The commercial opportunity in cannabis export is real, but it is narrower and more administratively demanding than many operators expect.
